Graduate Student Opportunities

We are currently accepting Ph.D. students for rotation positions. For more information about the graduate program, visit the Biological and Biomedical Sciences Program homepage. I can mentor students in the following programs:

CELL BIOLOGY & PHYSIOLOGY
GENETICS & MOLECULAR BIOLOGY
BIOINFORMATICS & COMPUTATIONAL BIOLOGY

Temporary Research Technician (Full Time)

We are seeking a technician to assist in research activities of ongoing projects investigating human 3D chromatin structure and the genetic basis of Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). The work will involve tissue culture of cancer cell lines, nucleic acid extraction, PCR, gel electrophoresis, and genomic library preparation (CUT&RUN, RNA-seq, etc.). The successful candidate will work closely with postdoctoral researchers in the lab to complete the goals of the project. The employee will also help support laboratory operations, management, and maintenance. Candidates with some experience in molecular biology, tissue culture, nucleic acid extraction, PCR, or gel electrophoresis are preferred. Full-time position, 6–11 months.

Postdoctoral Fellow (Full Time)

We are looking for a highly motivated and creative postdoctoral fellow to develop and apply computational tools to study gene regulation in human development and disease. We are particularly interested in understanding the mechanisms through which enhancers and three-dimensional chromatin structure alter transcriptional output during cellular processes. The applicant will develop new tools to detect chromatin loops, identify differential loops, and predict enhancer-promoter connections. They will then apply these tools to existing and forthcoming multi-omic data sets (Hi-C, ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq, RNA-seq, GWAS, MPRA, QTL, etc) generated by our lab to understand gene regulation and investigate the genetic underpinnings of Alzheimer’s Disease, leukemia, and osteoarthritis. We encourage applicants with experience in computational analysis and integration of genomic data sets.

Postdoc Research Associate (Full Time)

We are looking for a postdoctoral research associate to develop protocols and human cell lines for animal-product-free biomedical research. The project involves adapting commonly used human cells lines to grow in FBS-free media, phenotypic characterization of adapted cells, and distribution of the resulting cell lines. Results will be communicated via our website, peer reviewed publications, and conferences. In addition to promoting more ethical, sustainable, and reproducible science, you would contribute to projects investigating the genetic basis of acute myeloid leukemia, osteoarthritis, and Alzheimer’s disease.
